This handmade mould is exclusive to Myka Candles & Moulds and crafted in Australia using premium platinum-cure silicone, which is known for its durability and tear-resistance. It can withstand high temperatures up to 230°C, but it is not recommended to expose them to excessive heat for long periods of time. In comparison to regular silicone moulds, moulds made with platinum-cure silicone are more long-lasting and has a shelf life of more than 30 years.

To use, simply start by piercing a hole in the center of the mould where you want the wick to come out. Thread the wick through the hole and align the two sides of the mould together before securing with rubber bands. Pour in melted wax and allow it to cure overnight before carefully unmoulding the candle. For best results, preheat your mould with a heat gun prior to pouring to prevent jump lines and air bubbles getting trapped.

Please note that this mould is intentionally cut to assist with demoulding. This, in turn, will leave a seam line on the candle, but it's appearance can be minimized by ensuring that both halves of the mould are aligned as perfectly as possible before usage.

These moulds are handmade to order. Please allow up to 5 business days to craft your mould.

Mould Perfomance & Storage

The physical life of the mould depends on how you use it (materials cast, frequency, etc.). Casting abrasive materials such as concrete can quickly erode mould detail, while casting non-abrasive materials, such as wax, will not affect mould detail. Do not over-stretch or use any abrasive tools or fingernails when demoulding.

Before storing, the mould should be cleaned with a soap solution and fully dry. Two part moulds should be assembled. Moulds should be stored on a level surface in a cool, dry environment to maintain its original shape.

How To Use

Silicone Candle Moulds:

Thread the wick through the centre of the mould and secure it in place with a wick holder. For best results, gently warm the inside of the mould with a heat gun before pouring, especially for designs with fine details, lettering, deep textures, or narrow areas. This helps the wax flow into small details more evenly and can reduce trapped air bubbles and visible pour lines.

Pour in your melted wax and allow it to cool and fully set before carefully unmoulding. Depending on the wax used, a second pour may be required to level the base. Always keep the heat gun moving and avoid overheating the silicone.

Acrylic PVC Candle Moulds:

Thread the wick through the wick hole and secure it with a wick holder. Seal the hole with Blu Tack to prevent leaking, then pour in your melted wax. A second pour may be needed depending on the wax used. Allow the candle to set fully before unmoulding. If needed, gently squeeze the sides of the mould to help release the candle.

Concrete Trays & Vessels:

Mix your chosen casting material according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then pour it into the mould. Gently tap the mould to help release trapped air bubbles and allow the piece to cure fully before demoulding.

If using the finished vessel for candles, apply at least two coats of a suitable heat-resistant sealer to the inside and outside. Allow the sealer to dry and cure completely before adding wax.
