Candle-making can be a relaxing and enjoyable activity, and it is a great way to create unique and personalized gifts for friends and family. With a little practice and some creativity, you'll be able to make beautiful and fragrant candles in no time.
    1. Choose your wax: soy pillar blend, paraffin wax, beeswax or palm wax.

    2. Select fragrances and colouring. Most pillar waxes can take a fragrance load of up to 10%. We recommend starting with 7% and adjusting from there.

    3. Select a mould. Ensure they are free of any dirt or particles and are dry.

    4. Choose a suitable wick.

    5. Wick the mould and keep it straight and centred with a wick holder. Use a wicking tool or wicking needle for silicone moulds.

    6. Melt the wax to its recommended melting temperature in a double boiler or wax melter.

    7. Add the colouring and fragrance to the wax, then stir gently and continuously with a narrow spoon until the colour has completely dissolved and the fragrance has fully incorporated with the wax. Mixing with wide utensils can create air bubbles in the wax.

    8. Let the wax cool down to its recommended pouring temperature. Use a digital thermometer to accurately measure the temperature.

    9. Warm up the mould briefly with a heat gun.

    10. Pour the wax into the mould slowly and on an angle to limit the air bubbles.

    11. Leave the candle to cool for around 12-24 hours before removing the candle from the mould. The candle should have shrunk as it's cooled, enough so that you can release the candle from the mould with ease.

    12. If your candle has sunken in or not level, heat the surface of the wax and do a second pour. This is an optional step but it will give your candle a more flat and stable base.

    13. Remove the pillar candle from the mould and trim the wick to 5mm before burning.
