Bring your original idea to life with a professionally designed silicone mould created specifically for your business.

At Myka Candles & Moulds, we offer a complete custom mould development service—from preparing or creating the three-dimensional model through to printing the master, testing the design and producing the finished silicone mould.

Our custom moulds are made in Australia using premium platinum-cure silicone and are suitable for candles, soap, resin, concrete, jesmonite, hydrostone, wax melts and other compatible casting materials.

Custom projects are individually assessed and quoted according to their size, complexity, level of detail and production requirements.

Exclusive Custom Designs

Exclusivity is included in the development fee for eligible original custom designs.

For an eligible exclusive project, the completed design will be developed specifically for your business and will not be added to the Myka Candles & Moulds product range or knowingly reproduced for another customer.

Exclusivity applies to the completed custom design as a whole. It does not provide ownership or exclusive rights over common shapes, religious symbols, letters, numbers, standard decorative elements, traditional motifs or other features that are widely available or commonly used.

When Exclusivity Can Apply

Exclusivity may apply when:

  • you provide an original sketch, drawing, concept or design;
  • you provide original artwork that you own or have permission to use;
  • we create a new design specifically for your business;
  • the completed design is sufficiently original and distinguishable from existing products;
  • the project is not based on an existing physical object, commercially available product or another creator’s work.

Each request will be assessed before the project is accepted. Exclusivity must be confirmed in writing as part of your quote.

When Exclusivity Cannot Apply

Exclusivity cannot be offered for:

  • moulds duplicated directly from existing physical objects;
  • replicas of commercially available candles, sculptures, décor or other products;
  • designs copied or closely recreated from another business or designer;
  • existing moulds or designs already sold by Myka Candles & Moulds;
  • modified versions of our existing designs;
  • simple or standard geometric shapes;
  • common pillars, arches, cylinders, spheres, cubes, crosses or similar basic forms;
  • public-domain objects, traditional motifs or widely recognised symbols;
  • logos, characters, artwork or other intellectual property owned by a third party;
  • customer-supplied STL files that are also available publicly or commercially.

For example, if you send us a vase, figurine, container or candle and ask us to create a silicone mould directly from that object, we may be able to produce the mould, but we cannot guarantee exclusivity over the object or its design.

Likewise, changing the size, adding a name or making minor adjustments to an existing design does not automatically make the design exclusive.

Custom Design and Development Pricing

The development fee covers the work required to prepare your design for mould production. This fee is separate from the cost of the finished silicone mould.

All prices are in Australian dollars.

Tier 1: Customer-Supplied Mould-Ready 3D File

From $250–$350 per design

This tier may apply when you provide a completed STL or compatible three-dimensional file that requires only minor preparation before printing.

This may include:

  • checking the file for basic mould suitability;
  • minor repairs or adjustments;
  • resizing;
  • preparing the file for printing;
  • printing the master model;
  • preparing the master for silicone production;
  • basic mould planning.

The file must already be substantially complete and suitable for the intended moulding process.

Additional design work, remodelling, complex repairs or structural changes may move the project into a higher pricing tier.

Exclusivity can only apply if you created the supplied design or can demonstrate that you hold the necessary rights to it.

Tier 2: Simple Custom Design

From $400–$500 per design

This tier is suitable for relatively straightforward original designs.

Examples may include:

  • simple personalised shapes;
  • basic logo moulds;
  • text-based designs;
  • straightforward relief designs;
  • simple geometric products with original features;
  • basic SVG or artwork conversion;
  • uncomplicated containers, vessels or pillars;
  • minor original decorative elements.

This tier generally includes the design, print preparation, master model production and basic mould engineering.

Tier 3: Detailed Custom Design

From $600–$850 per design

This tier is suitable for original designs requiring more modelling, detail development or mould engineering.

Examples may include:

  • detailed decorative candles;
  • floral or botanical designs;
  • religious sculptures;
  • detailed vessels;
  • animal designs;
  • branded product shapes;
  • detailed relief work;
  • products requiring multiple design stages;
  • designs that need substantial modification to become suitable for mould production.

Pricing within this range depends on the complexity of the design, the number of details, the expected modelling time and the difficulty of producing a functional mould.

Tier 4: Complex Sculptural Design

From $900–$1,500+ per design

This tier applies to highly detailed, technically difficult or sculptural projects.

Examples may include:

  • realistic human or animal figures;
  • complex statues;
  • highly detailed architectural pieces;
  • intricate religious sculptures;
  • designs requiring multiple components;
  • large models with extensive surface detail;
  • projects requiring advanced mould engineering;
  • designs requiring multiple prototypes or major structural development.

Complex projects may exceed the listed range. A detailed quotation will be provided after we review the design brief.

What the Development Fee Includes

Depending on the selected tier, the custom development fee may include:

  • consultation about your design;
  • review of reference images, drawings or files;
  • three-dimensional modelling or file preparation;
  • adjustments required to make the design suitable for mould production;
  • preparation of the digital file for printing;
  • production of the initial 3D-printed master;
  • basic print preparation and finishing;
  • mould orientation and pour planning;
  • assessment of likely undercuts and demoulding concerns;
  • basic structural adjustments;
  • exclusive development of an eligible original design;
  • one final approved digital design for production.

The exact inclusions will be listed in your quotation.

What the Development Fee Does Not Include

Unless specifically included in your quotation, the development fee does not include:

  • the physical silicone mould;
  • additional copies of the silicone mould;
  • shipping;
  • import duties, taxes or customs charges;
  • major redesigns after approval;
  • additional sizes or variations;
  • extensive sanding or removal of all 3D-print layer lines;
  • photography or product testing using the customer’s chosen material;
  • packaging design;
  • branding or logo creation;
  • copyright or trademark registration;
  • legal intellectual-property advice;
  • transfer of editable source files;
  • transfer of copyright unless agreed separately in writing.

Silicone Mould Pricing

The physical silicone mould is quoted separately after the design, dimensions and mould construction have been confirmed.

The final mould price depends on:

  • silicone weight;
  • finished dimensions;
  • wall thickness;
  • number of cavities;
  • mould hardness;
  • number and position of cuts;
  • whether the mould requires multiple pieces;
  • the shape of the supporting housing;
  • the amount of finishing required;
  • the complexity of the design.

As a general guide:

Mould type Indicative price
Small custom mould $75–$120
Standard custom mould $120–$180
Large or detailed custom mould $180–$300
Extra-large or multi-piece mould $300+
Multi-cavity production mould Individually quoted

These prices are estimates only. The final silicone mould price will be confirmed before production begins.

Additional identical moulds are generally charged at the standard mould production price without another full development fee.

Additional Sizes and Variations

Once the original design has been completed, additional sizes or closely related variations may be offered at a reduced development cost.

Typical additional development fees are:

Additional work Indicative fee
Simple resize of an approved design $75–$150
Minor variation $100–$250
Significant design variation Individually quoted
Major redesign New development fee may apply

A reduced fee only applies when the new version can be created directly from the completed original design.

A substantially different pose, shape, pattern, structure or decorative arrangement may be treated as a new design.

Revisions

Your quotation will specify how many revisions are included in the development fee.

Included revisions are intended for reasonable adjustments to the agreed design brief. They do not include changing the project into a completely different design after modelling has begun.

Additional charges may apply when:

  • the original design brief changes;
  • new features are added after work has commenced;
  • multiple alternative concepts are requested;
  • previously approved details are changed;
  • substantial changes are requested after the master has been printed;
  • a new master model must be printed due to a customer-requested alteration.

Once the final design has been approved, any further changes will be quoted separately.

Approval Process

Before the physical mould is produced, you will be shown images or digital renders of the design for approval.

It is the customer’s responsibility to carefully check:

  • spelling;
  • names;
  • dates;
  • logos;
  • dimensions;
  • proportions;
  • orientation;
  • design details;
  • placement of text and artwork.

Production will begin after written approval has been received.

Myka Candles & Moulds is not responsible for errors that were present in an approved design.

Three-Dimensional Printing and Surface Finish

Most custom master models are produced using FDM three-dimensional printing.

FDM printing builds the model in fine layers, which means subtle print lines may remain visible on the master and may transfer to the silicone mould and finished product.

We prepare each master to an appropriate standard for mould production, but completely removing all print lines from highly detailed or complex designs may not be possible.

Wax, concrete, jesmonite, hydrostone and similar materials may display surface texture differently. Customers should consider the intended casting material when approving the design.

Additional surface finishing may be available for some designs at an extra cost.

Mould Suitability and Design Adjustments

A design that looks suitable as an image or digital model may not automatically work as a silicone mould.

To improve strength, pouring and demoulding, we may recommend changes such as:

  • thickening delicate details;
  • joining unsupported features;
  • reducing severe undercuts;
  • filling narrow gaps;
  • strengthening thin areas;
  • adjusting the base;
  • simplifying fragile decorative elements;
  • changing the mould orientation;
  • adding one or more mould cuts;
  • dividing the mould into multiple pieces.

These adjustments help reduce the risk of tearing, breakage, trapped air and difficulty removing the finished product.

We will discuss any significant changes before final approval.

Intellectual Property and Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for ensuring that any artwork, logos, reference material, three-dimensional files or other content supplied to us can legally be used for the project.

By submitting content, the customer confirms that they:

  • created the content;
  • own the relevant rights; or
  • have permission from the rights holder to reproduce it.

We may decline projects involving copyrighted characters, branded products, protected artwork, another creator’s design or content that appears to infringe third-party rights.

The customer retains any rights they already hold in original artwork, logos, drawings or files supplied to us.

For original designs created by Myka Candles & Moulds, the customer receives the exclusivity and commercial-use rights specified in their written quotation or custom agreement. Copyright transfer and the supply of editable working files are not automatic unless specifically agreed in writing.

Exclusivity does not prevent Myka Candles & Moulds from producing other products that contain common, functional, traditional or non-exclusive design elements.

What Exclusivity Means in Practice

For an approved eligible exclusive design, Myka Candles & Moulds agrees not to:

  • list the completed design for general sale;
  • sell the same completed mould design to another customer;
  • knowingly reproduce the complete design for another business;
  • use the completed exclusive design as part of our standard product range.

Exclusivity does not prevent us from:

  • creating unrelated products within the same general category;
  • using common shapes or standard design features;
  • creating other floral, religious, animal, architectural or decorative designs;
  • producing designs that share a general theme but are visually different;
  • reproducing public-domain, traditional or widely recognised symbols;
  • fulfilling requests based on independently supplied original concepts.

Exclusivity relates to the final approved design, not the broader idea, theme or product category.

For example, exclusivity over one original floral cross does not create exclusivity over all floral crosses. Exclusivity over one original Christmas tree does not prevent us from producing other Christmas tree designs.

Payment

The custom design and development fee must be paid before design work begins.

Because the fee covers consultation, design time, file preparation and production work completed specifically for the customer, it becomes non-refundable once work has commenced.

The silicone mould price is paid separately before mould production begins.

For larger projects, a staged payment arrangement may be included in the quotation.

Shipping and any applicable import fees are additional.

Cancellations and Refunds

Custom development fees are not refundable once work has commenced.

If a project is cancelled after modelling, file preparation, printing or other production work has started, the amount paid will be retained to cover the work completed.

Custom silicone moulds cannot be returned or exchanged due to a change of mind.

If there is a manufacturing fault with the silicone mould, please contact us promptly with clear photographs and a description of the issue so that we can assess it.

Natural seam lines, mould cuts, slight print texture and minor handmade variations are not considered manufacturing faults.

Production Time

Custom projects generally require approximately two to three weeks after the final design has been approved, although complex projects may take longer.

Production times can vary depending on:

  • the complexity of the design;
  • the number of revisions;
  • 3D-printing time;
  • silicone curing time;
  • the number of moulds ordered;
  • our current production schedule.

Any timeframe provided is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date.

Customers requiring an item for a particular launch, event or holiday should allow additional time for revisions, production and shipping.

How to Request a Quote

To request a custom mould quotation, please provide:

  • a clear description of your idea;
  • reference images or sketches;
  • the required finished dimensions;
  • the intended casting material;
  • the number of moulds required;
  • any text, logo or artwork;
  • the required level of detail;
  • whether you are requesting exclusivity;
  • your delivery country;
  • any relevant deadline.

Please also tell us whether you already have a 3D file.

Providing complete information allows us to assess the project accurately and recommend the most suitable design and mould construction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the silicone mould included in the development fee?

No. The development fee covers the custom design, master model and production preparation. The physical silicone mould is priced separately according to its size, silicone weight and construction.

Why is the mould priced separately?

The design may be used to produce one mould or several identical moulds. Separating the development fee from the mould cost allows customers to order additional moulds without paying the full design fee again.

Is every custom mould exclusive?

No. Exclusivity is only available for eligible original designs and must be confirmed in writing.

A mould made from an existing object, commercially available product, public file, existing design or common shape cannot be guaranteed as exclusive.

Can you copy an existing candle or sculpture for me?

We can assess mould-making requests involving objects you own, but we cannot guarantee exclusivity over an existing object or reproduce designs that may infringe another person’s intellectual property.

Can you modify one of your existing moulds and make it exclusive?

We may be able to personalise or modify an existing design, but exclusivity cannot be granted over a mould or design that is already part of our range.

Can I send you a physical object to mould?

Yes, some physical objects can be used as master models. However, the object must be suitable for mould production, and you must have the right to reproduce it.

Moulds duplicated from existing objects are not eligible for exclusivity.

Do I own the final design?

You retain the rights to any original material you supply.

Rights relating to designs created by Myka Candles & Moulds will be stated in your quotation or custom agreement. Exclusive commercial use may be included, but a complete copyright transfer is not automatic unless expressly agreed in writing.

Will you sell my exclusive design on your website?

No. An eligible design confirmed as exclusive will not be added to our standard product range or knowingly sold to another customer.

Can another business make something similar?

Exclusivity only governs the design and conduct of Myka Candles & Moulds. We cannot prevent independent third parties from creating similar products or enforce rights on the customer’s behalf.

Customers seeking formal protection for a design, logo or product should obtain independent intellectual-property advice.

Can you guarantee that my mould will never tear?

No silicone mould is indestructible. The lifespan of a mould depends on its design, silicone thickness, casting material, frequency of use, storage and demoulding technique.

We engineer each mould to be as practical and durable as reasonably possible, but delicate or highly detailed designs may require additional care.

Can I order more moulds later?

Yes. Additional identical moulds can generally be ordered at the current mould production price without paying the full development fee again, provided the original master or production files remain available and no modifications are required.

Ready to Discuss Your Custom Design?

Send us your concept, approximate dimensions and reference images, and we will assess the project for design suitability, exclusivity and pricing.

Every custom project is different. A personalised written quotation will be provided before any work begins.

All custom projects are subject to acceptance by Myka Candles & Moulds. The final written quotation and custom project agreement take priority if they differ from the general information provided on this page.
